Liam is a young man of 19. He was due to leave school and wanted to join the army. Unfortunately, Liam had been diagnosed with asthma, which can sometimes stop or delay an army application. Liam was sure he did not have asthma and wanted to end his treatment so he went to see his doctor.

The doctor looked at the details of Liam's case and asked him about his health. Liam said he had been training to support his army application and that this activity had not brought on any symptoms. The doctor decided to check Liam for airway inflammation, which is usually associated with asthma. To do this, he tested Liam's FeNO level.

Liam's FeNO score was 42 ppb, which is a higher than healthy level for his age. The doctor also found that Liam had reduced lung function. Although it was very disappointing for Liam, his asthma diagnosis was confirmed.
